Clipse at Wester Hall NYC was "Kinda Like A Big Deal"

I know its been a minute eyebrow raisers! But your girl has been working hard for you! And I present you with fresh Clipse from last night's show at Webster Hall. Pusha T & Malice are as live as ever and were very humble and gracious to fans that have rocked with them over the years!



The event was held in Webster Hall's (www.websterhallnyc.com) fab "The Studio" room and VIP with press galore in "The Marlin Room". Dope folks, music (by Dj Parler {pronounced Par-lay}, mirrors, hardwood floors, incense & cocktails...I was in hip hop heaven!

I got a chance to speak to the guys about the new record, "Til the Casket Drops", which is slated for a September release. Although the gang has stepped away from using Neptunes production exclusively, the Skateboard P bunch is still heavily involved in this record.



The boys said that this release is different from previous Clipse records because they finally feel free. The guys also detailed how working with legend Rick Rubin, changed their entire perspective on how "Til The Casket Drops" should be presented. Malice and Pusha T also admitted that this by far is their best album, and it appeals to all!



I hear there's a J.Lo track, of course the Camron track, and be on the listen for an ubber fly track dropping this summer (around June/July)!

Maxwell Moves...But Is Still Coming

Le' sigh! July 7th Guys & Gals! But at least we still have something in 2009. I heard 4 tracks ("Bad Habits", "Stop This World", "Love You", and "Help Me") from the new album, "Black Summer's Night" [a triology] this week...OMG! Pure Fire!!!!!

The track "Bad Habits" began very "Love Jones" ish then ended up in a blend of Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder type vibe.

The instrumentation is AWESOME. The way the horns and percussions crescendo in and out.

Each track that I heard was at least a minimum of 5 minutes long!

Jim Jones: Renaissance Rapper?

Well, he’s still Jimmy from the uptown block; but with a new found flare including a new album “Pray IV Reign” on Columbia Records (which drops March 24th), documentary “This Is Jim Jones”, movie “The Jim Jones Movie”, and play. Yes…a play, titled, “Hip Hop Monologues: Inside the Life and Mind of Jim Jones”. Written and produced by Howard University graduate J. Kyle Manzay and co-written by Jim himself, the Hip Hop Monologues is somewhat of an interactive album listening session, as Jim’s entire album is incorporated into the monologues. The play is devoted to Jim’s return to the streets of Harlem.

It [the play]gives the audience a chance to be Jim. The scenes never skip a beat, as a live jazz band, and active characters keep you engaged in the theatrical performance. And Jim actually does great job acting. While I was watching, I thought, “Could Jim be the new Diddy of Broadway?” then I came back to reality as a street war scene quickly developed, with Jim’s new track, “Pop Off” blaring through the theater!



Ultimately, the play shows you the thought process behind one of Jim’s biggest decisions of his life. The play is a must see, and will be back in NYC March 24 thru 28th!

UGK's Last Album Slated for 3/31

The Houston based hip hop duo UGK, is releasing their last and final album this March titled, "UGK 4 Life". The group was struck by sudden tragedy as member Pimp C was found dead in his hotel room earlier last year. The existing member Bun B (who also has a solo project of his own) will be actively promoting "UGK 4 Life". The 1st single from the record is, "Da Game Been Good To Me", very southernplayalistic!!!! The album features Ron Isley, E 40, Sleepy Brown, and Raheem Devaughn to name a few!

I'm still loving the International Players Anthem! Keep your heart 3 Stacks!!!
